Patriots all-in with TE Zach Sudfeld after releasing two veteran TEs

The New England Patriots released tight ends Jake Ballard and Daniel Fells, clearing the way for rookie TE Zach Sudfeld. Ballard is only in his third season in the NFL, but had his knees decimated by multiple injuries. Fells is a seven-year pro who was formerly with the St. Louis Rams and Denver Broncos.

Fantasy Analysis:

Sudfeld must have made quite an impression with the Patriots because they've put him out there on an island. This also should be considered a vote of confidence in the speedy return of Rob Gronkowski. The Pats only have one other TE on the roster, Michael Hoomanawanui. Sudfeld is widely considered a fantasy sleeper and potential Week 1 starter.
