Giants RB David Wilson will see goal-line work

New York Giants head coach Tom Coughlin confirmed that second-year running back David Wilson @4stillRunning will handle goal-line duties while RB Andre Brown @drebrown35 recovers from a fractured leg.

Fantasy Analysis:

The good news keeps rolling for David Wilson owners. Wilson has steadily climbed up draft boards since early spring. The former Virginia Tech back was praised by Coughlin, "He runs in there hard. I don't have a problem with [Wilson working the goal-line] at all. He's powerful, he's compact, he has tremendous leg strength, which is his forte." Wilson looks like an excellent RB2 across all formats.

You say RB2 but have him ranked top ten over all in non-PPR league, I'm confused?

Wilson is not currently drafted among the Top 12 at his position. If he does, then I will reference him as a RB1. Thanks for keeping me on my toes.

I've got him in most of my leagues as a number 2 and so far happy with the developments.

If Wilson shows he can handle a full load of touches before Brown comes back, then he has a good shot at being a top 5 running back by the end of the season. If you have the 9th or 10th pick in a 10-man league, then Wilson could be drafted as a RB2.

Good day...I have a draft on Monday in a keeper league.. My two keepers are Fitzgerald and Matt Stafford as I won the championship the year before last and got stuck without any good Runing backs...my question is I am the 2nd pick in this draft and am targeting a good rb, but am not sure who to go with....Chris Johnson, Reggie Bush, David Wilson(was a next round idea) until I had seen this...Any suggestions on a top flight back? Thx

ticall, without knowing what RBs are available ... it's hard to recommend a top flight RB

I like Wilson but how far will Wilson's value drop when brown does return in 4 to 6 weeks? Obviously it depends on his performance but what role will Wilson have with Brown back?......committee? Thanks.

ticall.....given it is a keeper league, one would assume the rb1's are gone. I would think taking wilson as your first pick borders on a no-brainer, especially given you have no good RBs. (BTW....how did you win the league with no good rb's?) (Also, how in the world did you win the league & still have the #2 pick in the draft??!!)

Thx for the response guys, I had Ahmad Bradshaw and Michael Turner as pretty good backs that year as well as a Michael Bush pick up helped out ...Larry Fitz was still doing great things and I had Matt Stafford throw 41 td's plus some other lucky pick ups at the right time.....Nonetheless the backs I have to choose from right now, Chris Johnson, Frank Gore, McFadden, Wilson, Bush, Ridley, sproles , lamar Miller, Lacy, Richardson....I don't want to keep going because it gets less and less quality, however with my first two or three picks I want to go RB...Where do I start, maybe I get lucky and draft my next keeper...THx

@ Websight2000 I won the league in 2011

So he's ranked number 8 in my league settings overall... How? And I too would love to see discussion on how Andre returning in week 6 and what that will do to his numbers...

Yeah, you take Richardson... and without even thinking about it really. That's a no-brainer for me.

I think he meant Daryl Richardson. Assuming that, then Chris Johnson or Wilson. I'd go Chris Johnson, although Wilson might be a more long-term keeper.

I'm very happy with my team this year especially with my RBs... I got Doug Martin and Trent Richardson as my starters and David Wilson as my FLEX

Will he still return kicks now that he's the top back ?

Posted by:
poeman 09/02/13 10:19 AM

I did mean it was Trent Richardson....YBravo that's exactly where I'm at in thinking, Johnson or Wilson right now...hope I make the right choice!

I meant to put Daryl lol sorry guys lol

I'm in similar situation. Keeper league with Doug Martin & Trent Richardson, first pick in the draft. Deciding whether to get Ray Rice or David Wilson, as they are the top two RBs available. Rice seems safe, but Wilson's upside and rank here with my league rules (#2) is tempting. Any suggestions?

I have Doug Martin and Chris Johnson, Wilson is on my Bench.. wonder who I will go with week 1...
