Giants place RB Andre Brown on injured reserve, designated to return
Giants running back Andre Brown has been placed the short-term injured reserve, so he is going to be absent for a long time. The Giants initially expected Brown to miss four-to-six weeks because of his broken leg, but a spot on the short-term IR means Brown will miss at least eight games. He won't be eligible to play again until Week 10 because the Giants have a bye in Week 9.
It all points to David Wilson carrying the load through the first half of the season, including short-yardage opportunities. The Giants have reportedly had contact with Beanie Wells, Jonathan Dwyer, Tim Hightower, Kevin Smith, Leon Washington, and Ryan Grant. They will sign an RB soon, preferably a bigger back who can use his muscle at the goal line. But whoever they choose will be no major threat to Wilson.
