Report: Jets QB Mark Sanchez out at least 2 games

Jets head coach Rex Ryan's decision to start Mark Sanchez @Mark_Sanchez or Geno Smith @GenoSmith_12 in Week 1 was made really simple when Sanchez suffered a bruised throwing shoulder late in a preseason game on Aug. 24. Ryan said Wednesday that Smith will indeed start, and Sanchez will be inactive due to his injury. The New York Post's Brian Costello reports, via a source, that Sanchez will miss the first two games of the regular season and possibly more.
Sanchez has yet to even throw a football since sustaining the injury because there "is a fear he could do further damage to the shoulder and possibly miss the rest of the season," Costello writes. "At the moment, the Jets do not think Sanchez will need to be placed on injured reserve."

Fantasy Analysis:

So, this is the Geno Smith show for the foreseeable future. If Sanchez is in so much pain right now that he can't even throw a pass, I think it's extremely doubtful that he will miss just two games. I assume he'll be absent for a month of the season or more. Smith's backups include Matt Simms and Brady Quinn. This offense is going to be absolutely dreadful.
