Patriots TE Rob Gronkowski officially doubtful for Week 1
Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski wasn't expected to play this week, so it's no surprise that he won't. He hasn't been ruled out yet, but the Patriots listed him as doubtful on the injury report. What is encouraging is the fact that Gronkowski practiced every day from Monday through Friday this week. He is nearing a return after offseason forearm and back surgeries.
Gronk has a chance to go in Week 2, but considering it's a Thursday night game, the Patriots will most likely not rush him in a short week and continue aiming at having him on the field in Week 3. Zach Sudfeld is a low-end TE1 versus the Bills.
