Thirteen carries for 55 yards isn't much, but that line from Giants running back David Wilson in Week 4 represented his best statistical output this season. Perhaps Giants coaches saw something in that game that assured them they could move forward without the player who had been Wilson's backup and handling third downs often this year. The Giants cut running back Da'Rel Scott on Tuesday. Scott carried the ball 16 times for 56 and caught 10 passes for another 98 yards on the season. Brandon Jacobs is now directly behind Wilson on the team's running back depth chart.
This move at least shows that the team will trust Wilson on third downs more, which can only help his fantasy value. I thought he ran very decisively against a tough Chiefs defense and displayed great balance along with his standard quickness. He would have seen more than 13 carries if the Giants hadn't fallen behind by so much once again. Wilson looks like an RB2 this week against the Eagles' poor defense.
