The Bills have their top two running backs able to play tonight versus the Browns. C.J. Spiller and Fred Jackson are both officially after each sustained injury during Week 4's win over the Ravens. Spiller sprained an ankle while Jackson sprained a knee ligament. Jackson got in more practice time as he practiced on both Monday and Tuesday. Spiller practiced very little this week.
On the Browns side, quarterback Brandon Weeden is active after missing the past couple of games with a sprained thumb on his right (throwing) hand. But he'll be the backup to Brian Hoyer .
If I own Spiller, I'm doing whatever I can to avoid him tonight. He will be at far less than 100 percent, and I wouldn't be surprised if Jackson handles the vast majority of carries. Buffalo is on the road in a short week and going up against a defense that hasn't allowed any team, much less any player, to rush for 100 yards this season. I would much rather start Jackson than Spiller.
Hoyer is on the QB2 radar after a couple of stellar performances. The Bills' secondary is all sorts of banged up. To that point, Bills safety Jarius Byrd, and cornerback Stephon Gilmore are inactive tonight. Start Josh Gordon and Jordan Cameron with confidence.
