Chiefs want to give RB Jamaal Charles more carries

Chiefs running back Jamaal Charles @jcharles25 has more touches than any skill player in the NFL this season at 147. He's certainly the biggest player in the league at just around or perhaps less than 200 pounds, and he has been dealing with painful blisters on his feet for most of the season. However, offensive coordinator Doug Pederson hinted Thursday that Charles' workload may actually go up as the season ages.
"He's a guy who steadily wants a little more each week, a little more responsibility," and the more he gets comfortable in our system and what we're asking him to do, we'll put a little more on his plate," Pederson said of Charles.
For what it's worth, Charles said his blisters are healing, and he is ready whenever his number is called.
"This is probably the best I've felt since Week 1," Charles said. "I hope I can continue to feel like that. I'm not worrying about how many times I touch the ball. I've been doing this for years, and it doesn't matter to me. As long as the ball is in my hand, I'm up for whatever."

Fantasy Analysis:

That sounds nice, but it feels like the Chiefs are tempting fate. Charles is currently on pace for 392 touches. His career high is 320, which came last year. But again, he is not typically built for that kind of heavy usage, and let's not forget that he suffered a major knee injury just two years ago. By the way, you should know for future reference that his backup is Knile Davis @BoobieKnile_Era.
Perhaps Charles' carry count doesn't come back to hurt him or the Chiefs this year, but if Charles ends up touching the ball 390 or 400+ times this season, you can bet a red flag will be raised when it comes time to consider his 2014 value.
For now, it's full speed ahead if you own him.
