Rams sign two QBs to compete for Sam Bradford's job

With quarterback Sam Bradford out for the year with a torn ACL, the St. Louis Rams made two acquisitions to fill the void. They signed QBs Brady Quinn @BQ9 and Austin Davis to go along with Kellen Clemens. This is now Quinn's fifth team since hitting the NFL in 2007. Davis is a former walk-on at Southern Miss who went undrafted and signed by the Rams after the 2012 NFL Draft. Head coach Jeff Fisher has already doubled down by stating Bradford's 2014 job security is not in question and will return as the team's starter next year.

Fantasy Analysis:

The pickings are obviously slim among NFL free agents and good luck to all of them. I've watched Hard Knocks and have an appreciation for whoever wins the job will have earned it. Roster spots don't come by easily. What's most intruiging about this is that Bradford has two years left on his deal which will net him $27 million. This contract was obviously signed before the lockout so the Rams' options are limited. They can't cut him without dumping a ton of dead money into their future and obviously you'd rather keep the decent QB as opposed to rolling the dice in the draft again. Sure, you might get another Andrew Luck or you can end up with another Christian Ponder. Whoever wins this QB race though probably isn't worth much to fantasy owners. Clemens hasn't shown anything over the years and obviously the same goes for Quinn and Davis.
