Texans QB Case Keenum will start, despite QB Matt Schaub being healthy

The Houston Texans will keep quarterback Case Keenum @casekeenum7 as their starter in Week 9 despite QB Matt Schaub @MSchaub8 being healthy and ready to play. Keenum played reasonably well in a loss against Kansas City two weeks ago. He passed for 271 yards and one TD with no INTs. An earlier report suggested Schaub had "torn ligaments" in his ankle; however, head coach Gary Kubiak recently said that Schaub is fine.

Fantasy Analysis:

This is a rather bizarre story. Most injury reports can be boiled down to "Player X injured his Y and could return by Z." A false report to mask the team's interest in starting Keenum over Schaub? Makes you wonder how legit every injury is if teams are willing to fib to give another guy a chance. In any case, Keenum probably does deserve a second opportunity. He went undrafted out of the University of Houston, where he was incredibly prolific statistically, and spent the entire 2012 season on the practice squad. With the Texans cooled on Schaub, it is Keenum's job for the forseeable future.
