Broncos TE Julius Thomas is day to day with knee strain; WR Wes Welker 'expected to be OK'
The Broncos' offense has some major injury concerns heading into its Sunday night showdown versus the Patriots. And refreshingly, none of the iffy players are Peyton Manning. Tight end Julius Thomas is day to day with a knee strain, and wide receiver Wes Welker has a concussion. However, sources have told ESPN's Chris Mortensen that Welker is "expected to be OK."
I have no idea what that quote means. I wouldn't take it as a word of encouragement that Welker will play this week. No one has any idea if that will happen until Welker goes through the league's concussion protocol. The habit of some to try to predict when players will return from a concussion is completely pointless. For now, both Thomas and Welker are day to day, and we'll have updates on them all week long. At least Thomas was able to return to last week's game.
