UPDATE: Redskins TE Jordan Reed won't play again this season

We've had a government shutdown and a quarterback shutdown in Washington this year. How about one for the road in 2013?
Multiple sources close to Redskins tight end Jordan Reed have told FOXSports.com that the rookie will be shut down for the rest of the season. Reed would finish his season with 45 catches, 499 yards and three touchdowns in nine games. He has not played since suffering a concussion in Week 11. He experienced a reoccurrence of concussion symptoms prior to the Week 13 game against the Giants.

Fantasy Analysis:

The Redskins haven't made this official yet, but it's a smart move. Reed wasn't practicing anyway this week and seemed to be a long shot to play Sunday versus the Falcons. Logan Paulsen will see increased snaps, but he's only a TE2 right now. For fantasy purposes, the Redskins' passing offense is Pierre Garcon @PierreGarcon and no one else.
Reed, who will turn 24 in July, looks like a lock to be a top-10 tight entering entering next season. While his debut campaign was cut short, fantasy owners should remember that between Weeks 7-10, Reed caught 27 passes for 323 yards and two scores. He has the athleticism to be a matchup nightmare for years, and he was stepping up as Robert Griffin's No. 2 target.
