Vikings running back Adrian Peterson said before Sunday's game versus the Eagles that he was "ready to roll." But it didn't matter what he thought; the final decision on his playing status rested with head coach Leslie Frazier, who made the tough decision to sit the reigning Most Valuable Player so he could rest his sprained foot. What is encouraging is Frazier said after the game he expected Peterson to play in Week 16 versus the Bengals.
Peterson and Toby Gerhart were inactive against the Eagles, leaving Matt Asiata to draw his first career start and lumber for three touchdowns. It was a day to remember for Asiata, but he's no threat to Peterson's workload, obviously. We'll keep tabs on Peterson does during upcoming practices, but as late as midday Saturday, he seemed pretty close to playing versus Philadelphia. He should return in what is fantasy championship week for many.
