Jaguars WR Cecil Shorts headed to the IR

Michael DiRocco of ESPN.com has reported that Jacksonville's number one WR, Cecil Shorts @CecilShortsIII, was placed on Injured Reserve on Tuesday. Shorts had been playing through a nagging groin injury for several weeks and was leading the team with 66 receptions and 777 yards. He had been skipping practices on Wednesdays and Thursdays during normal weeks, to give the injury extra time to heal. That plan came to a screeching halt when the Jags played on Thursday night in week 14, and Shorts tried to play through it.

Shorts was limited in practice Friday, but said he knew that he wasn't going to be able to go in their week 15 game vs. Buffalo, which the Bills won 27-20.

Fantasy Analysis:

Shorts had been a solid weekly play in fantasy leagues, due to the fact that he was the number one target, and the team was frequently playing from behind. With him out in week 15, Tight End Marcedes Lewis led the team in receiving with four receptions for 54 yards and a touchdown.

No Blackmon.... No Shorts... Potentially no Maurice Jones-Drew again... Week 16 opponent is the Tennessee Titans, who give up the 2nd most fantasy points to running backs on the year, and the most in the past five weeks... I'd say if you're playing in your fantasy championship and you have the ability to use RB Jordan Todman @JordanTodman, do it!!!
