Jim Schwartz latest casualty as Lions fire head coach

This Black Monday has gotten busy. After the Sunday night firing by the Cleveland Browns of head coach Rob Chudzinski, the flood gates have opened. Per ESPN NFL Insider, Adam Schefter, the Detroit Lions have terminated head coach Jim Schwartz, making him the sixth head coach to be fired already.

Schwartz compiled a 29-51 record in his five seasons at the helm for the Lions. During his tenure, Detroit made the playoffs once, losing to New Orleans in the wildcard round. The Lions never finished better than 2nd in the NFC North during his time as head coach.

Fantasy Analysis:

In terms of what a guy will have to work with, Detroit may be the exact opposite of Cleveland when it comes to desirable destinations for a head coach to land. They have a franchise quarterback in place. They have Calvin Johnson @Bigplaycj, arguably the best wide receiver the league has seen since Jerry Rice. They have a pair of dynamic running backs in Reggie Bush @reggie_bush and Joique Bell @JoiqueBell. On the defensive side, they have a solid line already in place. And unlike Cleveland, who fired head coach Rob Chudzinski after just one season... a season which he suffered through without a consistent starting quarterback and which saw management trade away their top offensive weapon from the previous season in RB Trent Richardson, Detroit gave Schwartz five seasons to make it work. With the appropriate off-season touch-ups, Detroit could be right back in the thick of the NFC North in 2014.

From a fantasy perspective, assuming they're all back, the four players mentioned are all valuable in any scoring format heading into 2014.
