Report: Giants OC Kevin Gilbride likely to be fired; HC Tom Coughlin staying

Five NFL head coaches were shown the door between Sunday night and Monday night. A sixth pink slip wasn't handed out during that time at Giants headquarters as Tom Coughlin said he would like to continue to coach and was given the blessing of the team's brass. However, offensive coordinator Kevin Gilbride will probably need to update his résumé.
A source tells Jordan Ranaan of the Newark Star-Ledger that "there are high-ranking officials in the Giants organization that believe Gilbride will be fired."

Fantasy Analysis:

This is not a shock, especially after Giants owner John Mara said Monday that the team's offense is "broken." Raanan adds that the regression of Eli Manning is "among the chief reasons" why Gilbride will be let go. It also doesn't help when your offensive line and running attack are marred by injuries. That's not of Gilbride's doing, but there was bound to be a fall guy for the Giants' struggles this season, and it looks like it will be Gilbride. He has been with the Giants since 2004, the same year Coughlin joined. The two also coached together for a couple of years in Jacksonville. However, the source tells Ranaan that "it's unlikely Coughlin will put his job on the line for Gilbride."
