Louisville QB Teddy Bridgewater going pro

Teddy Bridgewater announced Wednesday that he is taking his game and heading to the NFL. ESPN.com's Brett McMurphy reports that the Louisville quarterback will forgo his senior season and start what could very well be a long, successful career in the league. At the age of 21, Bridgewater has a strong shot at being the number one overall pick in this year's draft, as the Houston Texans hold that selection and a franchise quarterback is at the top of their wishlist. He is currently projected as the No. 1 quarterback prospect and No. 8 overall by ESPN's Todd McShay.

Bridgewater finished his junior season by leading the Cardinals to a 36-9 win over Miami (FL) in the Russell Athletic Bowl. He threw for a career high 447 yards and three touchdowns in the game, earning MVP honors.
Bridgewater finished his junior season with 3,970 yards and 31 touchdowns, completing 71 percent of his passes.

Fantasy Analysis:

Should Bridgewater go #1 overall to the Texans, he'll be one of the luckier quarterbacks drafted in that position in recent memory. Having a veteran WR like Andre Johnson @johnson80, who is a consummate professional and still one of the best in the game, could be huge for Bridgewater's development. Throw in DeAndre Hopkins @Nukdabomb, a 2nd year wideout, who has the tools necessary to develop a long-term chemistry with a young QB, a healthy Arian Foster @ArianFoster in the backfield, and a trio of tight ends who combined for 92 catches in Owen Daniels @owendaniels, Garrett Graham @gra89ham and Ryan Griffin, and Bridgewater could be inheriting what could be one of the top fantasy offenses in the league next year.

Bridgewater is smart and doesn't make stupid decisions, having only thrown four interceptions this season. There's a reason he's projected as the #1 overall pick and I feel, with the weapons he could have at his disposal, Bridgewater could be a top 10-15 quarterback in his rookie season if he indeed ends up being the number one pick by the Texans.
