Titans fire head coach Mike Munchak
The expectation on Friday was that the Titans would retain three-year head coach Mike Munchak. On Saturday, he was fired. ESPN's Chris Mortensen was the first to report the news. The Titans compiled a 22-26 record with Munchak at the helm and haven't made the playoffs since 2008.
Earlier today, there was a report that Munchak would remain the team's head coach as long as he made some changes to his staff. The early assumption is that he was unwilling to do so and paid the price.
The Titans head into 2014 with huge question marks at quarterback and running back -- the team is expected to cut Chris Johnson during the offseason -- and the defense was a sieve against the run. The biggest task for the next coach will be helping Jake Locker improve in many areas.
