It's official, Johnny Manziel will enter the 2014 NFL draft. This isn't really a surprise given Manziel's performance in his two years as a starter at Texas A&M. Despite an offseason controversy involving the selling of autographs (an NCAA violation) and questions about his maturity, Manziel settled in to have an excellent sophomore campaign. Manziel threw for 4117 yards and 37 touchdowns this season.
Who needs a QB? Lots of teams, specifically early round selectors the Texans, Jaguars, Browns, Raiders, Vikings, and possibly the Buccaneers. Every year there are teams in need of a young QB, but with so many, so early in the draft, this is a good time for Manziel to make the jump. He is widely expected to be a first round selection, but it's unclear where in the first round he will land. However, with demand so high, it wouldn't be surprising to see him go in the top 10 overall.
In terms of fantasy, we've seen what running QB's can do, even in their rookie seasons. Depending on where he lands, he might make a great backup, particularly in dynasty leagues.
