Giants RB David Wilson will undergo neck surgery on January 16

The Giants don't know when running back David Wilson @4stillRunning will play football again. General manager Jerry Reese said during a radio interview today, "I don't think we can go into next season saying 'David will be ready to go. He'll be our No. 1 back.'" That's because Wilson has a herniated disc in his neck and has been diagnosed with career-threatening spinal stenosis. Wilson himself may not know when or if he will play again. But he still wants to play and will undergo surgery one week from today in an effort to return to the field.
Reese confirmed that Wilson will have a fusion of the vertebrae to repair the herniated disc on Jan. 16. Wilson suffered the injury Oct. 6 and missed the rest of the season.
"We're hopeful that David will be able to play for us again next year," co-owner John Mara said in the interview. "Time will tell on that one."

Fantasy Analysis:

With Wilson's future totally up in the air, and Andre Brown @drebrown35 scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent in March, running back is just one of the Giants' many areas of need, and it's near the top of the list. Michael Cox is currently the only healthy Giants RB who is under contract and has any playing experience.
