Titans hire Ken Whisenhunt to be their head coach
That was fast. Ken Whisenhunt, the Chargers' offensive coordinator, has agreed to become the head coach of the Tennessee Titans. The news was broken by ESPN's Chris Mortensen and Adam Schefter. The Lions and Browns were also very interested in Whisenhunt, who was the Cardinals' head coach from 2007-12 before joining the Chargers.
According to NFL.com's Ian Rapoport, the Chargers are likely to promote quarterbacks coach Frank Reich to replace Whisenhunt.
Whisenhunt's offense ranked fifth in the NFL this season and contained the resurgence of Philip Rivers and the emergence of Keenan Allen. In Tennessee, Whisenhunt's priority is to decide whether his franchise quarterback is already on the roster. We don't know what running game he'll be working with, because Chris Johnson is expected to be released during the offseason.
