New Orleans QB Drew Brees willing to restructure contract to re-sign TE Graham
The New Orleans Saints figure to be 12 million dollars over the salary cap going into the offseason, luckily Drew Brees is willing to restructure his deal to free up some money for the team. Brees is two years into a five year 100 million dollar contract and stands to make 18.4 million this year. It's important to note Brees never said anything about a pay cut, he's talking about an extension; making it a team and player friendly arrangement.
This make a lot of sense considering Brees wants his favorite target Jimmy Graham to re-sign with the team. Graham leads a long list of Saints free agents this offseason, making their large cap number a problem. They always have the franchise tag at their disposal, and considering Graham will want to be paid more like a wide receiver than tight end, that might be a good deal for the Saints. Whether it's a long term deal now or the franchise tag, New Orleans will make sure Graham is in a Saints uniform for the foreseeable future.
