Jets give HC Rex Ryan multi-year contract extension

The Jets announced Thursday that they and head coach Rex Ryan have agreed to terms on a multi-year contract extension. Ryan had one season remaining on his current deal, and his new one is reportedly heavy in incentives for playoffs wins. He has a 52-48 record in five seasons with the Jets, including two trips to the AFC Championship game. The 2013 Jets finished at 8-8.

Fantasy Analysis:

Most people thought this most recent edition of the Jets would be lucky to win five games. I thought they would win no more than three. Yeah, the heat is always on in New York, but an ounce of perspective should tell everyone that the Jets overachieved greatly. They missed the playoffs by a mere game despite having zero game-breaking receivers and a very raw rookie quarterback. Ryan will continue to push for more "ground and pound," which makes Chris Ivory @ivory_29 a low-end RB2, but the Jets could use talent upgrades in every area of their offense, so don't be surprised if they bring in another back to provide competition. The Jets were a fantasy wasteland this season; they can only go up.
