Colts GM hints that RB Trent Richardson lacked confidence, but team still confident in him

There's no use in beating a dead Colt; we all know Trent Richardson had a woeful first season in Indianapolis. He didn't top 70 rushing yards in any game. He got benched. He fumbled his first carry of the playoffs. Richardson probably couldn't wait for 2013 to end. And obviously, the team isn't going to give up on Richardson less than four months after trading a first-round pick to acquire him.
Colts general manager Ryan Grigson said Thursday, via Mike Chappell of the Indianapolis Star, that Richardson "showed some progress. It's all about comfort level and confidence. We have patience. He's not going anywhere. We don't win 12 games if Trent Richardson isn't here. Trent fits all the things we're trying to do here.
"Richardson played a valuable role for us. I know he's not satisfied. Glad he's not. But glad he's here."

Fantasy Analysis:

Donald Brown @Donaldb31 is slated to become a free agent, and Vick Ballard @VickBallard is recovering from a torn ACL. For all of his negatives, at least Richardson is healthy right now and ready to go through a full offseason in the Colts' offense. Once again, he will be given every chance to be Indy's clear-cut lead runner and could be a nice value selection in fantasy drafts this summer.
Richardson is a polarizing player; you either love him or you hate him. I am in the former camp. I saw too much ability from him as a rookie in Cleveland to bail on him so quickly. I hope he turns it around in 2014.
