Cowboys owner Jerry Jones says team underutilized TE Gavin Escobar

The Cowboys didn't get much out of second-round rookie tight end Gavin Escobar in 2013. He played in more games than he had targets. Owner Jerry Jones stated the obvious Monday, saying that the team didn't use Escobar enough. He finished his first year with nine catches, 134 yards, and two touchdowns.

Fantasy Analysis:

The assumed insinuation is that Jerry wants to see more of Escobar next season. That will probably happen, but incrementally. Jason Witten @JasonWitten is still a very productive player and completely outclasses Escobar as a blocker. Escobar needs to get add strength and simply get more experience. Escobar has the hands and enough athleticism to be a mismatch, and I expect him to take a step forward next season. But it probably won't be a big step as Witten heads into his age-32 season. Escobar remains off of the re-draft radar.
