Cowboys give a $22.5 million contract extension to kicker Dan Bailey
The Cowboys and kicker Dan Bailey agreed on a six-year contract extension Thursday. The deal will keep Bailey in Dallas through the 2020 season -- it starts in the 2015 season -- and pay him $22.5 million in total salary. He got a $4 million signing bonus, and $7.5 million in the deal is guaranteed.
Since 2011, Bailey owns the league's second-best field-goal-conversion percentage and was 28 for 30 this season.
Feel free to laugh at the amount of money being committed to Bailey. It's pretty crazy and totally Dallas. For fantasy purposes, Bailey is a very stellar kicker in a high-powered offense. This contract doesn't alter his fantasy stock; you're still waiting until the final round or two to grab a kicker. Or at least, that's what you should be doing.
