Ravens RB Bernard Pierce undergoes shoulder surgery, out 4-5 months
That surgery to repair a torn rotator cuff Ravens running back Bernard Pierce was considering a few weeks ago? It was completed Wednesday. As expected, Pierce is expected to need 4-5 months of rehab. That means he'll miss OTAs, but he should be ready in time for training camp.
Good on Pierce to get this taken care of now instead of opting to rest his shoulder and avoid surgery. If that hadn't worked, Pierce may have been at risk of missing the start of the season. If everything heals properly, he will be just fine for training camp this way. Pierce, who averaged just 2.9 yards per carry this season, is only 23 years old and will fight for more carries next season behind Ray Rice . The Ravens have acknowledged that they will look to add a running back during the offseason.
