QB Chad Henne is only unrestricted free agent Jaguars plan to talk with before March 11

The 2014 NFL league year will begin at 4 p.m. Eastern on March 11. At that time, all players scheduled to become free agents will officially become free agents. The Jaguars don't have a lot of big names preparing to hit the open market, but one is the face of the franchise: running back Maurice Jones-Drew @Jones_Drew32. However, the team will let other teams vie for his services. Jaguars general manager Dave Caldwell said Friday that the only unrestricted free agent he'll be reaching out to before free agency begins is quarterback Chad Henne.

Fantasy Analysis:

The Jaguars will be drafting a quarterback or two in a few months. Henne will likely compete to be just a backup. The bigger news here -- if it's news at all -- is that the Jaguars aren't counting on MJD playing in Jacksonville next season. He'll be entering his age-29 season and had his worst season by far since entering the league in 2006. The Jaguars will give him a token offer but sound like a team ready to move on. Jones-Drew looked incredibly slow this season. That 2012 Lisfranc sprain which required surgery might well have marked the beginning of his end.
