Report: Chargers WR Danario Alexander dealing with knee complications, 2014 season in doubt

For about the millionth time, Danario Alexander @D_Alexander84's knees are getting in the way of his football career. The latest setback comes in the form of an infection in his right knee, which has required multiple surgeries, a source told FOX Sports' Alex Marvez. Alexander missed the entire 2013 season after tearing his right ACL during training camp. It all went downhill from there.
"Having undergone his initial ACL surgery last August following a preseason injury, Alexander suffered complications that required him to undergo a second reconstruction," Marvez wrote. "Infection followed that forced Alexander to receive intensive antibiotic treatment as well as the subsequent surgeries, the source said."
Marvez adds that this infection and the surgeries to battle it have "cast doubt upon whether Alexander ... will be able to play in 2014."

Fantasy Analysis:

Alexander will become a free agent next month, and although he is only 25 and had a small breakout in the 2012 season, it's hard to imagine any team being very interested in him and his woebegone knees. Alexander has had his right ACL repaired twice and has undergone five operations on his left knee, dating back to his college days at Missouri. It's really just an awful fate for a player with a lot of talent.
