Ravens TE Dennis Pitta gets paid: $32 million over 5 years

While one tight end is gonna have to make do with a one-year pact right now, another got some extended job security Friday. The Ravens and tight end Dennis Pitta agreed to terms on a five-year deal worth $32 million, league sources told The Baltimore Sun's Aaron Wilson.
"I could not be more excited to remain a Baltimore Raven," Pitta said in a statement. "There is no better organization or fan base in sports. To be given the opportunity to continue my career here is incredible. This organization drafted me and has always stood by me, especially during my difficult recovery last season – and for that, I am extremely grateful."
Pitta missed all but four games this season as he rehabbed a surgically repaired right hip. He fractured and dislocated it in July. In those four games, Pitta caught 20 passes.

Fantasy Analysis:

It doesn't take a Rhodes Scholar to tell you that extrapolates to 80 catches over a full slate. Only three tight ends reached that number in each of the past two seasons. Pitta ranked in the top 10 in fantasy points at his position in 2012 when he caught 61 balls for 669 yards and seven touchdowns. He is a dependable red-zone and possession target who, although the Ravens desperately need to upgrade their receiving corps, is likely Joe Flacco @TeamFlacco's second look right now.
Gary Kubiak is now the Ravens' offensive coordinator. He is the man who turned Shannon Sharpe into a fantasy stud. Owen Daniels had a handful of very productive years with Kubiak. He even made the likes of Garrett Graham and Jeb Putzier worth owning for stretches. Kubiak will get the most out of Pitta, and that definitely makes him a TE1. He carries more value in PPR leagues.
