Giants WR Victor Cruz says he has recovered from knee surgery; compares self to Randall Cobb

Giants wide receiver Victor Cruz @TeamVic wasn't available for the final two games of his team's lost 2013 season as he underwent arthroscopic surgery on his left knee Dec. 19. Fast-forward a little more than two months later, and Cruz proclaims that he is back to 100 percent. Specifically, Cruz told the New York Daily News that he is back in the gym and doing a lot of weight training. He said he hopes to be running routes by the end of the month and could meet with quarterback Eli Manning for some throw-and-catch sessions around that time.
Cruz also talked about the Giants' new offensive coordinator, Ben McAdoo, who worked with the Packers' offense for the last eight seasons. Cruz said he would like to be used similarly to Packers wideout/Swiss Army knife Randall Cobb.
"I do see myself as a Randall Cobb," Cruz said Monday. "Hopefully I can sneak in that backfield for a couple plays. I don't know how effective that will be. But we'll definitely see where it takes us. But we'll see. I'm excited to be all over the field this year.

Fantasy Analysis:

For what it's worth, Cruz has just one rushing attempt during his four-year career. Although Cruz is shifty and quick, Cobb is in a different class of athlete. Cruz doesn't need to be like someone else to be tremendously successful. He should concentrate on putting the errors of 2013 behind him. Getting together with Manning for as many of those sessions as possible should certainly patch the "disconnect" that Cruz previously said existed between his group and Manning this season. Cruz, 27, has plenty of bounce-back potential after a down year and could be a steal as a WR2.
