Giants re-sign RB Peyton Hillis
Michael Cox, with 22 career carries, was atop Giants' running back depth chart entering Tuesday. With David Wilson hurt and Andre Brown a free agent, the Giants need all the help they can get at that position. Apparently, they think Peyton Hillis can still be helpful. The Giants have signed Hillis to a two-year deal worth $1.8 million.
In seven games with New York last season, Hillis ran 73 times and averaged 3.4 yards per carry. He scored twice.
Let's not kid ourselves: If Hillis is a meaningful cog in the Giants' backfield this season, things have gone horribly wrong again. Any healthy running back is an improvement on what the Giants own right now. Hillis looked cooked in 2013 and has no fantasy value at the moment.
