Titans sign WR Dexter McCluster to a 3-year, $12 million contract

The Titans have added some juice to their return game as well as their receiving game, perhaps their running game, and anything else Dexter McCluster @dextermccluster can handle. The Titans signed the diminutive 2013 Pro Bowler to a three-year deal worth $12 million on Tuesday.
McCluster spent his first four seasons with the Chiefs and increased his reception, yardage and yards per catch totals each season. He caught 53 balls for 511 yards last season. However, McCluster's real value is found on special teams.
His 686 punt return yards in 2013 led the NFL, and he was the only player to return two punts to the house. The Titans didn't record a punt-return touchdown and ranked 24th in both punt-return yardage and yards per return last year.

Fantasy Analysis:

I see people saying that this is another bad sign for Chris Johnson @ChrisJohnson28's future in Tennessee. That's misguided. Johnson is going to be cut, and McCluster has nothing to do with that. McCluster is not a running back -- he has 20 carries in the past two seasons combined. He is a difference-maker on special teams and a general "offensive weapon." However, this investment, including $4.5 million guaranteed, may lead to the Titans trying to get more out of McCluster as a receiver. His fantasy value remains very low outside return-yardage leagues and deep PPRs.
