Lions sign TE Brandon Pettigrew to 4-year deal worth $16 million

The Lions added a very exciting piece to their offense a couple of days ago in big-play wideout Golden Tate @ShowtimeTate. On Friday morning, they re-signed one of the more boring components in their high-powered offense.
The Lions and tight end Brandon Pettigrew have agreed to a four-year deal with $16 million. Pettigrew gets $8 million guaranteed. Pettigrew caught just 41 passes last season, about half the number of balls he caught in 2011. His yardage and touchdown totals were also his lowest since his 2009 rookie year.
The Raiders and Jets also reportedly had heavy interest in the 29-year-old tight end.

Fantasy Analysis:

That seems like a lot of money to give to a low-ceiling, short-range receiver who should see his offensive production decline even further as Joseph Fauria continues to ascend. Pettigrew is a TE2 with only modest upside in PPR leagues.
