Dolphins QB Ryan Tannehill: 'I have to make a big jump' this season

The Dolphins put a lot on Ryan Tannehill @ryantannehill1's shoulders in his second season. He threw the ball 588 times, seventh-most in the league. But he barely completed 60 percent of those throws and finished with 25 touchdowns and 22 turnovers. While last season was still an improvement on Tannehill's rookie campaign, he knows that much more is expected from him in year three.
"It's huge. I have to make a big jump, I'm aware of that," Tannehill told ESPN's Keyshawn Johnson on Wednesday. "I'm putting in the work, putting in the time to get myself physically ready, mentally ready and learn this new offense that we're going with this year. So there is still work to be done.
"But I look for a big jump in myself, both in production and wins. That's what we ultimately play for is wins. So, I'm excited to see what this team does."
Tannehill and the Dolphins finished 8-8 last season and collapsed down the stretch, letting a golden opportunity to make the playoffs slip away.

Fantasy Analysis:

Tannehill, who turns 26 in July, is tall, athletic and has a very strong arm. Consistent accuracy is a weakness; his inability to hit Mike Wallace @Wallace17_daKid on a number of deep routes last season became very well documented. But he was also hurt last year by an awful offensive line and poor play-calling. And you can't quantify what kind of impact the bullying fiasco played on him.
The Dolphins have signed offensive tackle Branden Albert and brought in Bill Lazor to be their new offensive coordinator. The Dolphins needed to become a more balanced offense, and they hope the signing of Knowshon Moreno @knowshonmoreno will help in that area. All of these changes should help Tannehill, and he still has enough weapons on the outside to be successful. He is a QB2, but upside remains.
