Texans' Ryan Fitzpatrick named starting QB

Ryan Fitzpatrick is not a great quarterback, but he's the best the Houston Texans have got. Head coach Bill O'Brien announced Tuesday that Fitzpatrick is the team's starter going into the season. Houston's QB depth chart behind Fitzpatrick contains Case Keenum @casekeenum7 and rookie Tom Savage. They will battle for backup duties. The Texans released quarterback T.J. Yates after making the expected announcement.

Fantasy Analysis:

I'm sure Andre Johnson @johnson80 is ecstatic with this news.
Johnson is not expected to attend this week's mandatory minicamp because he is unhappy with the team's direction. And if you are like Andre Johnson -- the face of a franchise, a future Hall of Fame wideout who will soon turn 33 years old and has suffered through many unsuccessful seasons -- the reality of Ryan Fitzpatrick as your team's on-field leader doesn't create a ton of confidence. I don't care about Fitzpatrick for fantasy purposes; he's a low-end QB2 who will drag down the values of the receivers around him, even Johnson. I just hope he plays well enough to keep defenders from stacking the box to shut down Arian Foster @ArianFoster.
At this stage of his career, Johnson isn't doomed by missing minicamps. Sure, it would be nice if he was in attendance to learn the offense O'Brien is implementing, but I won't reach a level of serious concern until he holds out well into training camp. Johnson is a low-end WR1 with the arrow creeping south.
