Eagles TE Zach Ertz gets compared to Ozzie Newsome, Shannon Sharpe

The Eagles believe a breakout season is coming from second-year tight end Zach Ertz @ZERTZ_86. At least they hope it's coming. They certainly need help replacing the numbers DeSean Jackson @DeseanJackson10 gave them. According to Ertz's position coach, there's no question that he has the tools to help out in a big way.
"He's an excellent route runner," Eagles tight ends coach Ted Williams said via Martin Frank of the Wilmington News Journal. "Guys that big and run that well and have the skills and tools to be precise – body control, strength, size, leverage – I think they're different. There aren't a lot of them like that. Not at his position. You saw the Shannon Sharpes of the world, the Ozzie Newsomes of the world who can do those kinds of things. That made them premier players."
The article also talks about Ertz's fantastic work ethic, how he is more comfortable this year with the offense's nuances and tempo, and how much he is focusing on getting better as a blocker.

Fantasy Analysis:

For you youngsters or people not familiar with NFL history, Sharpe and Newsome are two of the best tight ends to ever play. They are both enshrined in the Pro Football Hall of Fame
Ertz's shortcomings as a blocker led to him ceding a lot of playing time to Brent Celek @BrentCelek last year. He still caught a respectable 36 passes while playing only 41 percent of the snaps. If the Eagles can trust him on running plays, Ertz's play count will go way up. I think 70 receptions is possible here, and only six tight ends reached that number in 2013. Ertz is an awesome option if you can't get one of the few already-established elite tight ends. He is FFToolbox's No. 11 TE.
