Jets RB Chris Johnson says he can still be a 2,000-yard rusher

I feel like we hear this every year from Chris Johnson @ChrisJohnson28.
He ran for 2,006 yards in 2009. Five long years ago. Since then, Johnson hasn't come close to another 2,000-yard rushing campaign, but he has absorbed the punishment that comes with more than 1,100 carries. He is now with the Jets and expected to enter into a timeshare with Chris Ivory @ivory_29. But Johnson has full belief that he is very much the same player from that historic season.
"I'd just retire and not play anymore if I didn't feel like I was still capable of being a 2,000-yard back," Johnson told the Daily News on Tuesday. "I know I have the ability. ... I don't feel like I'm getting older or I lost a step. I still feel good. I still feel explosive. I just know the type of player I am, I'd never sell myself short."

Fantasy Analysis:

In other CJ?K news, he is close to a full recovery after offseason knee surgery. He is being held out of OTAs, but he should be full-go for training camp.
Quotes such as the ones Johnson gave are great for beat writers to fill columns, but they are hollow for fantasy impact. Johnson and Ivory are going to be sharing carries. Johnson will likely open the season as the team's starter, but if he disappoints, I'm sure Rex Ryan won't have any qualms with turning the lead role over to Ivory, the much tougher runner. Johnson is a low-end RB2. He turns 29 in September.
