Jets QB Michael Vick disappoints during OTAs

If quarterback Michael Vick @MikeVick wants to start for Jets, he has a lot of ground to make up on Geno Smith @GenoSmith_12. According to Dom Cosentino of NJ.com, Vick was a "dud" during organized team activities
"The veteran still has the arm and the athleticism, but he seemed to struggle at times," Cosentino wrote about Vick. "How much is it about adjusting to a new offense, and how much is it a sign of things to come?"

Fantasy Analysis:

Cosentino qualifies that "dud" designation with the fact that the media had very limited access to OTAs, and coaches stressed that players would sometimes run plays that would inevitably be thrown out of the playbook by September. However, there hasn't been much positive buzz surrounding Vick this summer. Smith will enter training camp as the starter by a wide margin. Head coach Rex Ryan can stress competition all he wants, but Smith is likely going to be the man under center in Week 1. And that is one major reason why I will shy away from Jets receivers in drafts. That strategy wouldn't change much if Vick was the starter, but at least we know that he has been a great quarterback. Although Smith should improve in his second year, it's impossible to trust him after what we saw during his rookie season.
