Ravens' passing game will focus on quick-hitting, high-percentage throws

That is one of five things ESPN.com's Jamison Hensley said he learned during the Ravens' offseason workouts. It's basically due to a change at offensive coordinator.
"Cam Cameron loved throwing the deep ball, and Gary Kubiak favors quick-hitting passes," Hensley wrote Monday. "This isn't giving away classified secrets to point out Kubiak wants Joe Flacco @TeamFlacco to make higher-percentage throws and do it with a faster release. The Ravens are still going to take their shots downfield, especially off play action. It would be crazy not to do so with Flacco's arm. The focus of the passing offense, however, has clearly shifted."

Fantasy Analysis:

This sounds similar to change the Chargers made last year when Mike McCoy took control of the offense after San Diego fired Norv Turner. It certainly worked out well for Philip Rivers, who saw his completion percentage rise five percentage points and turned in perhaps the best season of his career. The Giants are doing the same with Eli Manning.
Flacco hasn't seen his completion percentage reach 60 since 2010, and he threw 22 interceptions last year, tied for second-most in the league behind Manning. While Kubiak's system should mean fewer deep throws to Torrey Smith @TorreySmithWR, they can still find plenty of ways to get the ball to him in space. Otherwise, the Ravens have a couple of receivers -- Steve Smith and tight end Dennis Pitta -- who seem to be perfect fits. Ray Rice @RayRice27 falls into that group as well. Pitta could be Flacco's favorite target and a high-end TE1. Flacco is still in the QB2 range, but betting that his numbers will drastically improve from 2013 is wise.
