Texans WR Andre Johnson says he hopes to attend training camp

Texans wide receiver Andre Johnson @johnson80 held out of voluntary workouts. He held out of mandatory minicamp. Will he be present when Houston opens training camp at the end of the month?
"Hopefully," Johnson told NFL Network's Marcus Smith on Wednesday. "We'll see what happens. Camp is three weeks away."

Fantasy Analysis:

There is no such thing as "hopefully" in this case. Johnson is not being held back by an injury or contract dispute. He didn't attend any offseason workouts because he is frustrated with the team's direction and the prospect of another rebuilding year. Being absent was his choice.
I totally understand why a Future Hall of Fame wideout who has given 11 years to an organization with limited success would be upset with the possibility of another down year. He wants to win, and Ryan Fitzpatrick has never been the quarterback of an over-.500 team.
But if Johnson wants to attend camp, he will. If he doesn't want to, he won't. The Texans aren't going to suddenly trade for Aaron Rodgers, so that situation isn't going to change no matter how unsavory it is. Johnson's words make it seem like whether or not he attends camp is a decision completely out of his hands. It's actually the exact opposite.
One positive about the holdout is that it has caused Johnson's draft stock to drop into the fourth round. He may turn 33 years old on Friday, but he caught 109 passes from similarly less-than-elite quarterbacks in 2013. That current ADP makes him a steal.
