Report: Texans WR Andre Johnson has requested a trade, 4 teams interested

According to NFL.com's Ian Rapoport, disgruntled wideout Andre Johnson @johnson80 has told the Texans that he wants to play for another team. Rapoport has been told by a source that Johnson is working out "not thinking of the Texans," and four teams have expressed interest in acquiring him. It is unknown which specific teams have expressed that interest, and the Texans are reportedly unwilling to trade him right now.
According to Rapoport, Johnson had productive conversations with head coach Bill O'Brien a while back was all set to join the team after missing some early offseason workouts. That missed time meant that Johnson couldn't earn the full $1 million workout bonus on his contract. Johnson said he would like to earn the money back by working out extra, but the team said that wouldn't be possible. Thus, the rift between the two sides grew deeper.

Fantasy Analysis:

That's a pretty petty move by the Texans, if true. I understand wanting to honor a contract as it is written, but you are going to spurn the face of your franchise over $1 million after he has already said he will do whatever possible to actually earn that money? That's not how you get back into the good graces with an 11-year vet.
On the other side, the Texans can't really afford to move Johnson. It would cost them about $12 million in dead money to trade or release him. While Johnson may be rightfully upset at not being able to earn his workout bonus, he is still under contract, set to make $10 million this season and is going to remain with the Texans barring a surprise twist. Moving him out wouldn't make any financial sense.
Both sides have made missteps in this drama, but when camp opens in about two weeks, Johnson should be there. He is not going to gain anything by holding out.
