Bills RB C.J. Spiller to possibly see 20-plus touches a game

Bills insider Chris Brown sat down with offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett to discuss the current running back situation in Buffalo. Hackett mentions newly-acquired talents Bryce Brown and Anthony Dixon have "play-making abilities" and will have oppurtunities to carry the ball this year. Brown determines "operating at peak efficiency C.J. Spiller @CJSPILLER is likely to touch the ball 20 times a game, they just won't all be carries out of the backfield."

Fantasy Analysis:

If Spiller sees 20-plus carries a game he could be a legitamate RB1 this year. We remain cautious of this extra boost as last season head coach Doug Marrone and Nathaniel Hackett both publicly promised before the season to "run C.J. until he pukes." Spiller can be viewed as a RB2 with RB1 upside until he can prove he can stay healthy for a full 16 games.

Do you think Fred Jackson continues to poach the red-zone opportunities?

I think so but I could easily see Bryce Brown taking on that role as well. Either way, I think Buffalo gives away third-down/goal line duties to another RB as to reduce the pounding Spiller takes so he can hopefully stay healthy for a full season. Fool me once, shame on you......

I tend to write off RBs who have burned me in the past. Unless I can get Spiller late round 4 or after, no thanks. I still see Jackson getting the goalline carries, and I frankly don't trust that Spiller will see 20+ touches per game, just as he didn't run the ball til he puked.

Spiller battled an ankle sprain for the meat of the season. He played through it but wasn't that effective (Roddie White anyone?). If he is/stays healthy 20 touches is not out of the question and a mid/late 3rd round pick could be well spent on this guy. Sign me up at that value.

If I draft him FJax will go crazy....If I don't he will haunt my fantasy football dreams on a weekly basis.
