Miles Austin now starting at wide receiver in Dallas

RSS

After his franchise record of 250 receiving yards in week five, the Dallas Cowboys said they were going to look for ways to get wide receiver Miles Austin more involved in the offense. They have found that way: Start him. The Cowboys adjusted their depth chart during a week six bye and it now shows that Austin is the team's No. 2 wide receiver, not Patrick Crayton. So, Austin will start this Sunday alongside Roy Williams when Dallas faces the Atlanta Falcons.

Fantasy Analysis:
Austin had just five catches for 81 yards heading into his big game against the Kansas City Chiefs, but in the world of "What have you done for me lately?", Austin is outperforming Crayton. Since week one, Crayton has just 108 receiving yards in four games and didn't help his cause by fumbling the ball twice and losing a muffed punt against the Chiefs. Now that Crayton is the team's No. 3 WR, his fantasy value is almost nil, and it also looks like he will be out of a starting job at any position. Crayton will likely be replaced as the Cowboys' punt returner by Allen Rossum, who is expected to sign with the team Wednesday. The starting gig gives Austin's value a boost, but let's be honest: a lot of those yards that he got last week were due to poor tackling. He still remains nothing more than a bye-week replacement in fantasy until he can show some consistency.
