Ted Ginn Jr. to see less playing time
With the Miami Dolphins rolling with a very run-heavy offense, it's hard to depend on any of their wide receivers for fantasy purposes. Even when wide receiver Ted Ginn Jr. is given opportunities to produce, he keeps letting them literally slip through his fingers. After another poor game in week seven -- one in which he caught just two passes and dropped two others (one of which was picked out of the air by the Saints and returned for a touchdown) -- it looks like Ginn is headed to the bench. ESPN's Chris Mortensen said Monday that Ginn will see reduced playing time going forward. Mortensen also said that if the trade deadline were this Tuesday instead of last Tuesday, the Dolphins would be dialing up the Ravens and offering Ginn to the team whose offensive coordinator, Cam Cameron, drafted Ginn in 2007 with the ninth overall pick.
Fantasy Analysis:
Remember when all the draft analysts were bashing the Dolphins at the draft for passing over Brady Quinn for Ginn? How's that looking now? Both players aren't starting. There are whispers that Quinn may get traded, while Ginn could get cut. In fantasy, Ginn should have been let go a long time ago. He is nothing more than a deep threat in that Miami offense. He gets just a few targets per game and obviously, there is no guarantee that he will take advantage when he gets those targets. For what it's worth, Ginn's reduced role probably means more playing time for rookie Brian Hartline.
