Chiefs suspend Larry Johnson for two weeks

RSS

After a couple of days of saying otherwise, the Kansas City Chiefs have finally suspended running back Larry Johnson. According to Kent Babb of the Kansas City Star, the team will be imposing a two-week suspension on Johnson for conduct detrimental to the team. Since the Chiefs are on their bye this week, Johnson may only miss one game, but the suspension will cost him two game checks, which is roughly worth $660,000. This week, Johnson insulted head coach Todd Haley and used a homophobic epithet on Twitter and toward some KC sports writers. Johnson's agent said Wednesday that they will be challenging the suspension.

Fantasy Analysis:
So while Johnson was right when he told one of his Twitter followers this week "U don't stop my checks," the Chiefs can and they have for two weeks. The Chiefs will face the Jacksonville Jaguars next week. With Johnson most likely still under suspension at that time, backup running back Jamaal Charles makes for a good fantasy play while Kolby Smith might also steal a few carries. In the long term, I think Charles is the running back you want here. I just don't see any possibly way that Johnson can come back into that locker room and play again for the Chiefs.
