Ahmad Bradshaw has broken bone in foot
New York Giants running back Ahmad Bradshaw has missed many days of practice in the last few weeks but still suited up on Sundays. Now we know that the reason why is a cracked bone in his right foot. The good news is Bradshaw will still be able to play. On Thursday, Bradshaw saw a foot specialist, who revealed that Bradshaw has a cracked fifth metatarsal, which is the bone on the outside of the foot. It's an injury that will likely require offseason surgery to insert a screw as an aid in the healing process. But it's also an injury that could worsen by breaking fully, which would then immediately land the third-year running back on the operating table. The doctor said that Bradshaw should keep missing practices and hope for the best.
Fantasy Analysis:
Bradshaw has been wearing a walking boot around the clock for much of the week, but that is kind of old news. You know he is going to miss practices, but he usually practices on Fridays before playing fully on Sundays. I don't think this discovery will force the Giants to limit his work -- he only gets 10-15 carries a game anyway. The real danger is if the bone fully breaks, which will mean surgery. Bradshaw said he knows the risks, but that he will still keep playing. If something worse were to happen to Bradshaw, Gartrell Johnson would probably become the new backup to Brandon Jacobs.
