Eagles will be very cautious with Brian Westbrook

It looked as if Philadelphia Eagles running back Brian Westbrook was going to return in week nine after missing most of the past two games due to a concussion. Head coach Andy Reid indicated earlier in the week that Westbrook was expected to play after practicing on Wednesday and Thursday. But, Westbrook began experiencing symptoms of a mild headache on Friday. He underwent some testing, and although the tests were negative, he was deactivated prior to the team's game against the Dallas Cowboys. Reid said after the game that he will continue to use caution with the injury.

Fantasy Analysis:
Westbrook's late scratch was definitely surprising, but it was probably a good call by Reid to hold him out. With the sensitive and mysterious nature of each concussion, it's smart to not play Westbrook unless he has absolutely no lingering symptoms of his injury. Backup running back LeSean McCoy had a very Westbrook-type game against Dallas with 13 carries for 54 yards and five receptions for 61 yards. He will continue to get more action for as long as Westbrook is out. Westbrook's status for Philadelphia's week 10 game against San Diego is uncertain at this point and as we learned this past week, it will probably stay uncertain until Sunday. Stay tuned.
Also, if you are a Clinton Portis owner, pay attention. Use Westbrook's case as an example that you should expect Portis to miss at least two games.
