Brian Westbrook misses practice as gimpy ankle becomes problematic again

Philadelphia Eagles running back Brian Westbrook didn't practice Wednesday, but it wasn't because of his post-concussion symptoms that we all thought were the sole reason why he didn't play Sunday night against Dallas. While the fragile running back deals with that as well, head coach Andy Reid said earlier this week that Westbrook is recovering from having some "work" done on his achy right ankle. Reid said that the ankle was the reason he was held out of practice Friday before the Dallas game. It's also the cause behind why he didn't practice Wednesday. Yet, Reid said that Westbrook didn't play against Dallas "strictly because of the headache." Westbrook missed the team's week three game against Kansas City due to a sprained right ankle, which was surgically repaired in the offseason.

Fantasy Analysis:
I would be sick of putting up with this if I was a Westbrook owner. According to the linked article, there are no specifics, but Westbrook has been through some sort of procedure on his right ankle recently. He also had right ankle surgery in the offseason after it bothered him for most of the 2008 campaign. Westbrook is supposed to practice Thursday, but with LeSean McCoy playing, why risk it? Westbrook is not an encouraging start versus the Chargers with all of these injury concerns. But I like McCoy as at least a flex play, since it seems likely at this early point in the week that Westbrook will be limited Sunday.
