Marc Bulger may be out for season with leg fracture

On Monday, St. Louis Rams quarterback Marc Bulger was nursing head, groin and knee injuries. While some thought he may have a concussion, it's that knee injury that could end his season. An MRI revealed that Bulger has a fractured tibia. It's officially a tibial plateau fracture. The injury won't require surgery, but it is expected to sideline Bulger for as little as three weeks and for as much as six. Bulger also had an MRI exam Monday for an injury to his groin-hamstring area, which has been diagnosed as a strain, head coach Spagnuolo said. Bulger is scheduled for a neurological exam, too, because he took a blow to the head late in Sunday's game against Arizona. These injuries mean that Kyle Boller will take over as the first-team quarterback and rookie Keith Null moves up to No. 2. Boller started two games earlier in the season after Bulger bruised the rotator cuff in his right shoulder.

Fantasy Analysis:
Bulger was just an emergency backup QB in most fantasy leagues, but it's now safe to drop him in all formats if you own him. With the Rams going nowhere and Bulger having a number of injuries, there is no reason why the team needs to push him to return this season; he probably should be put on IR. Boller isn't much of an upgrade. In the one game he played completely this season, the Rams lost 35-0 to the 49ers. FYI, the Rams play the Seattle Seahawks this Sunday. Now would be a good time to see if that defense is available in your league.
